HTS Classify (“we”, “us”, or “Service”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, and your rights regarding it.
2. What We Collect
When you use HTS Classify, we collect:
- Email address: For account creation, authentication, and billing
- Product descriptions: The text you submit to classify. These are your classification inputs and are never sold or shared.
- Stripe Customer ID: Linked to your account for subscription billing
- Usage data: Number of classifications, API calls, and upload volume
- IP address: For rate limiting and fraud prevention
3. How We Use Your Data
- Classification: To run your product description through AI models and return an HTS code
- Billing: To process Stripe payments and manage your subscription
- Rate limiting: To prevent abuse and enforce usage limits
- Account management: To send account-related emails (e.g., subscription confirmation, password reset)
4. Third-Party Services
The following services process your data:
Hosts our database and authentication. Your email and account credentials are stored here.
Processes your product descriptions to generate HTS classifications. Descriptions are sent to Claude API.
Generates vector embeddings of your product descriptions for enhanced classification. Descriptions are sent to OpenAI API.
Processes subscription payments. Your email and Stripe Customer ID are shared for billing.
Redis-based rate limiting. Your IP address is logged to enforce usage limits.
Hosts our web application. Standard server logs may include your IP and request metadata.
5. How Long We Keep Your Data
- Classifications: Kept indefinitely in your account history unless you request deletion
- Account data: Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable time after deletion to comply with legal obligations
- Billing records: Retained as required by tax and finance regulations
6. Cookies
We use only essential session cookies managed by Supabase for authentication. We do not use analytics cookies. If we integrate error tracking (e.g., Sentry) in the future, we will update this policy.
7. Your Rights
You can:
- Access your data by logging into your account
- Export your classification history by contacting us
- Delete your account and all associated data by email request

8. Children
The Service is intended for users 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 16. If we become aware that a child under 16 has provided personal data, we will delete it immediately.
